David started school and was raised in Hamilton / Burlington, Ontario. He started riding at 7 and at the age of 11 started working at the Palomino Ranch north of Oakville, Ontario. There he learned basic horsemanship. He arrived in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia in 1994 with a paint mare named Josephine. He purchased the Carriage House property in 1996 and introduced Blue Seal Feeds to the area. In 1999 he moved to Southern Manitoba and set up Carriage House West, a ranch on the North Dakota border. He traveled the area working various Hutterite Colonies and Ranches as a farrier. He then made the trip to Oklahoma to receive testing and certification. In the spring of 2004 he returned to the Carriage House property to revamp and set up a facility that offered a well rounded operation to western horse enthusiasts including tack, ranchwear, horse transport, quality feed, farm produce, equipment sales and farrier service.
David is a member of the Western Canadian Farrier Association, Manitoba Horse Council, Manitoba Rodeo Council, Canadian Cowboys Association, American Donkey & Mule Society and the Canadian Donkey & Mule Association.
